One of my colleagues, Paul Bellows, wrote this article and the message is powerful and appropriate for EVERY business owner ... including YOU!  

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) recently confirmed that the nation has been in a recession since December 2007. 
 
Not me! I refuse to participate in the recession. I refuse to let fear and the macro-economy control my destiny. Did I spend a little less on gifts this holiday season? Sure. Will I be a little smarter with my dollars? Yes. Will I work harder to attract new clients? Okay.

A lot of professors give talks titled "The Last Lecture." Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can't help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy?

Welcome to a brand new year! Today we have a chance for a new beginning. Today we can discard all of those destructive, negative habits and replace them with healthy, positive ones.   

We also have a leg up on anyone who set a New Year's Resolution ... we have the goal planning process which takes those dreams and makes them reality! With attitude and habit replacement in mind, here's an excerpt from a healthy habit list once adapted by Dear Abbey, Pauline Phillips, from the original creator of Al-Anon:

First, define the term balance. So often, people seeking "balance" end up with a life something like both sides of a scale dragging the ground behind them. I suggest thinking of work-life balance as a Teeter-Totter, which is certainly possible to balance but is much more fun when it "seesaws" back and forth. In fact, that is the purpose of a teeter-totter!
